Alorton

Flying J Travel Center

This is a huge truck stop with 15 private shower rooms available to the general public. Conveniently located off of I-255, Exit 17A. No time limits, lots of very hot water and great pressure. Towels are provided.

Alsip

Pilot Travel Center

One of the smaller Pilot Travel Centers out there; but there are 4 shower rooms for rent. Clean and spacious rooms with no timer and lots of hot water. Towels are free to use.

Alton

Alton Splash Pad

Nice hot water showers located near the Alton Splash Pad inside of the restroom building. Relatively clean; nicely updated park with many other facilities to enjoy.

Bloomington

Pilot Travel Center

Standard Pilot truck stop with 9 private shower rooms for rent. They are much larger than average and are cleaned often. No timer, unlimited hot water with ample pressure. Towels are free to use.

Bolingbrook

Greater Chicago I-55

One of the nicest truck stop showers in the country – hands down. They are very spacious and updated with modern decor. Cleaned often and no time limits. Very hot water with excellent pressure. Friendly staff!

Bridgeview

Pilot Travel Center

Another relatively small truck stop with 3 showers available. The stalls are more cramped than other Pilot locations, but they’re clean with good water temperature/pressure. Towels are free to use.

Channahon

Heritage Crossing Field House

This is a nice rec center that offers an inexpensive monthly pass for access to their entire facility. In that, you can access the showers as often as you’d like. Rumor has it, you can ask for track-access only and get in for cheaper, but this type of pass may have been discontinued.

Chicago

57th Street Beach Showers

Near the “Truth on the Beach” taco restaurant are two outdoor pole-style showers that are open for public use. These provide cold water so don’t expect luxury, and they’re also in the open; no privacy.

Lake View YMCA

Many private shower stalls at the Lake View YMCA. The facility is very clean but a little outdated. Pretty clean and tidy with friendly staff who seem to be very attentive.

McFetridge Sports Center

One of the most expensive facilities to take a hot shower at but there are many amenities such as a tennis court and ice rink. The women’s shower stalls are private but then men’s are not. Water is warm, not entirely hot, but has good pressure and is relatively clean.

Montrose Beach

Three open-air cold water shower poles right on the beach near the Montrose Beach Dunes Natural Area. No privacy and often used to rinse off sand, but you could easily use them to wash up.

Oak Beach Showers

Outdoor cold water showers open to the public. Small pole located right outside of the Castaways Beach Club, near the beach. Typically meant for rinsing off sand, but it can easily be used to wash up.

Stanton Park Pool (Indoor)

If you plan on using the showers-only, you can typically get into the facility without a fee. Hot water, great pressure, friendly staff. Relatively clean considering that this place is used quite often by a lot of people.

East St. Louis

Pilot Travel Center

Yet another Pilot location with 11 shower rooms for rent. No timer, endless hot water, very nice facilities. Each room has their own toilet, sink, hooks, and bench/chair. Towels are included for all guests.

Gilman

Pilot Travel Center

Typical Pilot truck stop with 7 private shower rooms for rent. Very hot water, no time limits. Stalls are cleaned thoroughly after each use. Towels are complimentary and extras are available if needed.

Grayville

Standard truck stop style showers with private rooms. The facility seems cleaned often as the stalls are kept tidy. Unlimited hot water; no time limits.

Hudson

Comlara Park

Hot water showers available to the public at the Comlara Park beach area. There’s a small restroom building in which they are located in. Can be dirty at times, but the water has a good temperature to it.

Marion

Pilot Travel Center

Although the stalls are a bit smaller and less plentiful than other Pilot locations, the showers are great. Endless hot water, friendly staff, clean facility.

McLean

Road Ranger

This is a large truck stop off of Route 55 that has many hot showers open for general public use. No time limit, endless hot water. Towels provided if you need them. Cleaned often and spacious stalls.

Mt. Vernon

Pilot Travel Center

Located off of Exit 95 on Interstate 57, this is your standard Pilot truck stop. Many shower rooms open for use by the general public. Great hot water, nice employees. Towels provided.

Naperville

95th Street Community Plaza

Several free hot water showers in private stalls. Spacious and clean. They are located within the restroom building near the parking lot. Very nice area open only in the summertime.

Oak Brook

Oak Brook Park District Recreation Center

This is a very large and nice rec center located near the outskirts of Chicago that has many amenities available; including showers. While the fee is a bit steep when compared to other rec centers, the facility is very nice and updated. Hot water and cleanliness throughout. Friendly staff.

Oakwood

Pilot Travel Center

Another truck stop shower location with 7 rooms available. Plenty of hot water and decent pressure. Cleaned after each use. Towels are available without an extra charge.

Ottawa

Ottawa YMCA

Several hot showers available, but unlike other YMCA locations, this spot does not offer free shower-only passes to guests. You are required to pay the price of a full day pass for access. With it, you can access the pool, fitness room, gym, and walking track. Clean place, private showers.

Rockford

Love’s Travel Stop

Nice Love’s truck stop with spacious shower rooms open to the general public. Unlimited hot water with no time limit. Towels are complimentary and extras are available upon request.

Troy

Yet again, another Pilot with many showers available. Lots of hot water, clean throughout. Friendly staff are willing to give you extra towels; just ask.
