Flying J Travel Center

Typical Flying J truck stop with many shower rooms open for public use. Although the price is a bit steep, they clean them after each guest uses them. Free towels, nice facility with lots of hot water and no time limits.

Brooklyn

Pilot Travel Center

Another nice Pilot Travel Center, located off of Exit 201 on Interstate 80. The shower rooms are spacious and kept very clean. Free towels provided with no time limits and unlimited hot water.

Cedar Rapids

Pilot Travel Center

This is smaller than your typical Pilot truck stop, but it’s nice. Cleaned often with nice shower stalls and complimentary towels. Excellent pressure and friendly staff.

Clear Lake

Pilot Travel Center

Located off of Interstate 35 at Exit 194 is another Pilot Travel Center with showers available. These are clean, private, and have endless hot water with no time limits. Free towels to borrow.

Clive

Love’s Travel Stop

Nice Love’s truck stop with many shower rooms for rent. Very hot water with excellent pressure. Clean facility with spacious stalls.

Coralville

Coralville Recreation Center

These are communal open-stall showers that are completely free to use and open to the general public. Plenty of hot water, ample pressure, but not much privacy. Lockers cost $0.25, which is very reasonable. Cleaned often.

Des Moines

Pilot Travel Center

Located near Interstate 35 and 80, off of Exit 126, is one of the largest Pilot Travel Centers in the country. 17 spacious shower rooms and friendly staff that’s ready to help. The water is very hot and the facility seems to be kept very clean.

Exira

Littlefield County Park

Located inside of the restrooms are several hot water showers that are completely free to use. Beautiful location, although the facility does not seem to be cleaned very often. Works as a nice spot to wash up.

Floyd

Love’s Travel Stop

Standard Love’s Travel Stop with private shower rooms available for public use. Clean stalls, each with their own locking door, toilet, mirror, etc. Nice place with friendly staff.

Iowa City

City Park Pool

Located in a nice area of the city, this public pool has wonderful hot showers that you can access with your day pass. Swimming in the pool is a definite bonus. Private stalls, warm water. Pretty clean.

Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center

Very nice rec center that offers free showers to the general public. Just check-in at the front desk and they’ll show you where to go. Friendly staff. Not the best showers around, but you can’t complain because they’re free. Relatively clean. Hard pressure, ample hot water.

North Liberty

North Liberty Community Center

Very nice tiled showers with wonderful showerhead that provides plenty of hot water and good pressure. Clean facility with friendly staff. 3 stalls in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms.

Osceola

Pilot Travel Center

Although not quite as large as other Pilot locations nearby, this is still a good place to shower. Private rooms, very hot water, ample pressure. Cleaned after each guest is done with their room.

Percival

Yet another Pilot truck stop with private shower rooms. Like other locations; free towels to use, amazing hot water, good water pressure.

Polk City

Big Creek Beach

Cold water showers conveniently located near the sandy beach. Good water pressure and relatively clean, but out in the open so do not expect much privacy.

Sioux City

Pilot Travel Center

Nice Pilot truck stop with many shower rooms for rent. Very hot water inside private spacious stalls, each with their own toilet, sink, mirror, and bench. Towels provided at no extra cost.

Solon

Lake MacBride North Modern Campground

Campground shower with push-button activate showers that provide warm showers. Not entirely hot, but a decent temperature. Completely free to use once you are inside of the park. No need to be staying at the campground to use this facility; open to the public.

Stuart

Affordable truck stop style showers with plenty of hot water and friendly staff. Nicely updated stalls with ample water pressure. Clean facility.
