Located along the Riegelman Boardwalk near Coney Island Beach are a few open stall cold water showers that are available for public use during the summer months. Strong water pressure.

Castleton-On-Hudson

Pilot Travel Center

Smaller than average Pilot truck stop with 4 shower rooms available. Lots of privacy, no timer, great hot water pressure. Cleaned regularly. Towels are complimentary.

Champlain

Maplefield’s Travel Center

Typical truck stop style showers that have hot water; open year ’round. Small stalls but ample pressure and hot water with no time limits. Cleaner than most truck stops with privacy available.

Route 11 Truck Stop

Public showers that are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They provide instant hot water with great pressure. No time limit. Pay at the counter and they will provide you with a towel and show you where to go. Not the cleanest so bring your sandals.

Nice truck stop style showers, each in their own private room. Spacious tiled shower stalls that are kept clean. No time limit, plentiful hot water and pressure.

Ithaca

YMCA of Ithaca & Tompkins County

Communal and private shower stalls located within each of the locker rooms. No time limit, very hot water, good pressure, clean facility. Each stall has complimentary shampoo and soap.

Johnson City

YMCA West Family Branch

This YMCA offers first time visitors a free guest pass as long as you register, sign a waiver, and show your ID. Showers are spacious, clean, and provide ample hot water. Friendly employees.

Kent

Ernst’s Lake Breeze Marina

Located next to the fish cleaning station, there is a single shower between the men’s and women’s restrooms. Ample privacy, hot water, completely free to use. Relatively clean and doesn’t seem to be used all that often.

Lake Placid

Mirror Lake Public Beach

Located within the small beach house are a couple of warm water showers. Open daily from 10AM to 6PM but closed during the winter months. Relatively clean and tidy with small stalls without curtains, but it’s behind a wall so you do get a little bit of privacy.

Liverpool

Pilot Travel Center

Nicer than average Pilot truck stop with 5 showers for rent. No time limit, very hot water, great pressure. Staff is friendly and will provide extra towels if needed.

Long Lake

Lake Eaton Campground and Day Use Area

Although only open seasonally from May 16th to October 13th, there are several hot water showers open to the public inside the bath house. Super friendly staff will show you where it is, if needed. Private stalls, water is on a timer that goes for about 10 minutes before you need to press the button again.

Minetto

Riverview Park

At one end of the park near the Oswego River, there’s a small building that has a couple of public showers in it. Warm water only but with decent pressure. Only open when the locks are running; from May through October. Pretty clean and well kept considering this is wide open for public use.

Newburgh

Pilot Travel Center

Located conveniently off I-84, Exit 34 is this Pilot truck stop that has many private shower rooms for rent. No time limits, very hot water, good pressure. Cleaned after each guest. Towels provided.

Orient

Orient Beach State Park

Free lukewarm showers for public use inside the State Park. Private stalls but often not very clean.

Oswego

Best Western Plus Oswego Hotel and Conference Center

Located on the bottom floor of the Best Western is the “Captain’s Club” which has a couple of hot water showers open to the general public. Pay at the front desk and they will provide you with a towel. Privacy curtain, individual stalls. You do not need to be a hotel guest to use these.

Palmyra

Erie Canal Showers

Just past the Muddy Waters Cafe, down the short street at the dead end, you’ll see a gray building with picnic tables. Here you will find a couple of showers that are open to the public from 6Am to 10PM on a daily basis. Closed during the winter months. Warm water provided with good pressure.

Pembroke

Flying J Travel Center

Standard Flying J truck stop with 9 private shower rooms open to the general public. Spacious stalls with cleanliness throughout. No time limit, free towels to use.

Plattsburgh

Pointe au Roche State Park

Several cold water showers open to the public within the State Park. Good water pressure and privacy available. Not the cleanest but these are completely free to use.

Rome

Bellamy Harbor Park

This is a newly built building that has a couple of showers that are completely free to use. Nice facility with an updated interior and spacious stalls. Ample hot water, no restrictions. Only open during the summer months.

Rotterdam

Pilot Travel Center

Smaller than average Pilot truck stop with 3 showers available. Endless hot water, friendly staff. Towels are provided at no extra cost.

Saranac Lake

St. Regis Canoe Outfitters

Nice private hot water showers available to the general public. Private stalls, plentiful hot water, good pressure. They provide you with a towel to borrow. Very friendly staff.

Saratoga Springs

Victoria Pool at Saratoga Spa State Park

Located within each locker room in the Victoria Pool are a couple of free to use warm water showers. Nice hot water with good pressure. Clean facility although the stalls are quite small.

Staten Island

Faber Park Recreation Center

Public rec center with a free outdoor pool. Only open during the summer between 10Am and 7PM. Must bring swimsuit and a locker, otherwise the staff will not let you come in. Hot water with good pressure.

South Beach Boardwalk

Cold water open stall showers located near Midland Beach and the South Beach Boardwalk. Not very clean but totally free to use.

Ticonderoga

Maplefields

Two very clean showers located at this gas station/convenience store. You are allowed to share it with a guest. Ample hot water with good pressure.

Watkins Glen

Clute Memorial Park & Recreation

Located within the campground there is a small outbuilding that has a couple of showers in it. Pay the fee at the front office and they will show you where it is precisely located. Plenty of hot water, OK pressure. Not the cleanest but it works for a quick wash up. You do not need to be staying at the campground to use these showers.

Watkins Glen State Park Outdoor Pool

Once you enter the park and pay your entrance fee, these showers are free to use. These are cold water showers and are closed during the winter. Not the cleanest and you need to keep the button pushed down for water to come out.

Waterford

Waterford Harbor Visitor Center

Located conveniently on the Erie canal, there are two private shower rooms open to the public. Ask the attendant for a key so you can gain access. Totally free but donations are happily accepted. Very hot water, good pressure, and super clean.

Yonkers

Yonkers Family YMCA

Open stall showers available in each locker room. Not much privacy but the water is hot and plentiful. You must check-in with the front desk, fill out a waiver, and show your ID to gain access.
