Several public showers located within the restrooms at this nice rec center. Water is lukewarm and does not get very hot, but the facility is clean and the staff is friendly. You are free to use the gym and other amenities with your day pass.

Thomas Jefferson Community Center

Another nice rec center with many amenities available. The showers are nice and private and provide endless hot water; no time limits. Clean place to wash up!

Cape Charles

Located on the side of the restroom building is a single showerhead that provides cold water. Simply follow the pathway and you’ll see it on the wall. In the wide open so don’t expect any privacy.

Crozet

Loft Mountain Camp Store

Coin operated pay showers located within the Loft Mountain Campground. You do not need to be staying in the campground to use this facility; publicly open to all. Instant hot water and kept clean. Curtains on each stall.

Danville

Nice Pilot truck stop with 3 private rooms to shower in. Clean, spacious, and no time limit on the hot water. Towels are included.

Nice truck stop with super clean showers, no time limits, and unlimited hot water. Spacious stalls with a lot of privacy; you get your own locked room with a toilet, sink, etc.

Very nice, upscale location to take a hot shower. Provided free to AT thru hikers, but typically they let anyone wash up for free. Very clean private stalls. Friendly employees; consider supporting the local businesses here.

Harrisonburg

Pilot Travel Center

Conveniently located off of Interstate 81, this truck stop has 7 private shower rooms available to the general public. Spacious stalls with abundant privacy and hot water. No time limits. Cleaned after each guest. Towels are provided at to additional cost.

Madison

Big Meadows Campground

Located within Shenandoah National Park, there are coin operated pay showers at this campground. Open to all; you do not need to be a campground guest to use these facilities. Very hot water with excellent pressure. Change machines are located on-site if you need to break bills and get quarters. Relatively clean considering that these are used often.

McClean

Spring Hill Rec Center

Beautiful rec center with many private shower stalls available. If you would like to use all of the amenities in the facility, the price is $10. If you’d like to shower-only, the price is $3. Check-in with the front desk and request that you’d only like to shower if you want to get the discounted rate. Very hot water, great pressure, clean!

Raphine

Nicely updated Pilot truck stop with private shower rooms for rent. Unlimited hot water, excellent pressure, friendly staff. The stalls are cleaned after each use so it’s always nice and tidy. Towels are included in the price and extras are available upon request.

Roanoke

River Rock Climbing

Climbing gym with several hot water showers in private stalls. Very nice facility that’s kept quite clean. Excellent water pressure, friendly staff. You will need to bring your own towel.

YMCA Express at Gainsboro

Smaller than average YMCA with several hot water showers available. You must register at the front desk and show your ID when you pay your entry fee. Towels are provided at no extra cost. Relatively clean.

Many private room showers available to the public. Unlimited hot water, spacious stalls, and very clean. Towels are free to use.

South Boston

While this facility is much smaller than your average Pilot truck stop, they do have 2 shower rooms for rent. Cleaned regularly, plentiful hot water with good pressure. Towels are complimentary and extras can be had if requested.

Staunton

Staunton-Augusta YMCA

Inexpensive showers open for public use. Stalls are private, each with their own curtain. Relatively clean, although the water does take a minute to warm up.

Virginia Beach

Grommet Island Park

Although these are cold water showers, they are free and open to the public. There are 4 private stalls with locking doors, and 2 open-air showers right outside. Private stalls have a bench and hook for keeping your stuff dry while you wash up.

Whytheville

Wytheville Community Center

Very nice rec center that has a pool, gym, basketball court, and many other amenities. Clean facility and private hot water shower stalls with excellent pressure.
